ATLANTA, GA - Here's a round up of some of my Tweets from the last couple of weeks. You can subscribe to my Twitter feed at http://twitter.com/ecommercejobs. If I weren't so busy, I'd fill out some of these Tweets and make them full-blown blog posts. There's plenty-O-meat here, IMHO.
- JOB SEARCH TIP: "An SEO Recruiter's Advice to SEO's." Want more money, a shorter job search, and a better oppty? http://tinyurl.com/bqpxfv
- DOWNLOAD OF THE DAY: 44-page ebook "Ten BIG Advertising Mistakes" by Jeff Paul, renowned direct response marketer. http://tinyurl.com/d9sodo [Jeff wrote the classic "How to make $1,000,000 working from your kitchen table in your underwear" -- one of the greatest information products of all time. Jeff's a Dan Kennedy protege, and Jeff has Game.]
- TOTAL HELL: 300 applications / 11 months / 20 recruiters / 150 phone screens / 100 interviews / 1 job search. http://tinyurl.com/c8hh7z
- QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Direct Response is not a media type, it’s a philosophy about advertising." - Tremendous blog post by Ken Robbins http://tinyurl.com/d8gsew
- ADVICE TO CANDIDATES: "Companies who seem unreasonable during the hiring process usually ARE unreasonable." Do you really wanna work there? [Really? Do people ever really change?]
- MORE ADVICE TO CANDIDATES: Your resume must be COMPLETELY accurate. Background checking companies are ruthless!! Do NOT stretch the truth. [You will get busted. Happens all the time. You're not as slick as you think.]
- RECRUITING FACT: Clients, if your Google results include bad customer feedback and news of lawsuits, it's bad for MY brand to represent you. [Seriously. I have a brand, and it's doing pretty well. And on the off chance that I take a search from a dicey company, my candidates always tell me about it after they research the client online.]
- SOOOO IMPORTANT: "Brand Considerations When Choosing Domain Names." This article is gospel. http://tinyurl.com/czo8ef [Recruiters, why don't you "get" this? Why? Your job is so hard anyway. Why not fight from the high ground?]
- RECRUITING TIP: How does Warren Buffett determine "Which candidate has the most potential?" See http://tinyurl.com/cvklh7
- NOTE TO SELF: Decline all search assignments where the HR manager says "you can download the job posting from Monster.com."
Still not on Twitter? Well, get with the program!
