As an American, I've never been swept away with the whole idea of year-end Top 10 lists. But this year I realized that this is very un-American of me, and it's really stupid from a marketing standpoint.
I mean, below I have linked to dozens of fine Z-list bloggers who might now check out my blog. As they are pulled out of obscurity, many of them will no doubt invade the A-list. Time to start kissing some butt! These Z-listers will be the influential thought leaders of 2007 -- at least until some alternate meme sweeps them under the carpet (as the Z-list will do to yours truly).
For now, who among them has time to sift through the piles of stuff on this blog as they decide whether or not to blogroll me? Exactly.
For these busy Z-listers, and for you workaday, blue collar Americans out there who are hungry for a Top 10 list, following are my Top 10 most popular blog posts of 2006 as chosen by my Typepad blog stats:
- The Future of Linked-In
- Warren Buffett on "Which candidate has the most potential?"
- Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
- How to Recognize a Big Idea
- Getting Paid What You're Worth
- Career Advice on Job Offers
- "Before You Apply for Your Next Job..."
- For a good time, call Harry Joiner
- How long? How many? And Why?
- Getting Found on Monster
- Your Blog is Not Your Resume
- How to Reach a Niche Market
- Who Owns Your Blog: You or Your Employer?
- Negotiating a Higher Job Salary
You might have noticed that my Top Ten list goes up to 14. Click here for an explanation of that.
